This full-day, hands-on workshop is designed to help you understand and confidently use studio lighting. In a supportive studio environment, you’ll move beyond theory and spend the day learning how to set up, shape, and control light in a practical, repeatable way.
Working in a small group of up to eight participants, you’ll photograph professional models and practise across at least four different lighting setups. Each setup is broken down step by step, with clear explanations of why it works and how you can recreate it on your own shoots.
By the end of the workshop, you will:
Understand the basics of studio lighting equipment and modifiers
Confidently set up and position studio lights
Learn how light direction, distance, and modifiers affect your images
Be able to recreate at least four different studio lighting setups
Gain experience working with models in a studio environment
Feel confident using studio lighting independently after the course
Beginners who want to learn studio lighting from scratch
Photographers comfortable with their camera but new to lighting
Anyone who feels intimidated by studio lights and wants hands-on guidance
Creatives looking to build confidence in a studio setting
Basic camera knowledge is recommended.
This is a practical, small-group workshop with plenty of shooting time. Each lighting setup is demonstrated and then practised, with guidance and feedback throughout the day. There’s time for questions, experimentation, and learning at a comfortable pace — no pressure and no jargon.
